210mm Western Style Chef Knife

Blade: 14c28N stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish
Handle: Dyed and stabilized curly mango set on a full tang with stainless rivets
Description: South African knifemaker David Hoehler specializes in chef’s knives. Given that he worked in some of the best kitchens in South Africa for nine years, it is no surprise that he brings a unique understanding the chef’s primary tool.

This high performance chef’s knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The long, deep-bellied blade is well suited as a general purpose chef’s knife. Whether slicing, chopping, mincing, or dicing, this comfortable knife will do it all. The gentle arc of the cutting edge is perfect for a rocking chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board.

The blade is hand ground 14C28N stainless steel made by Sandvik in Sweden and heat treated to 60 Hrc. 14C28N is tough, chip, resistant, highly corrosive resistant, and maintains good edge retention. The blade features a hand rubbed satin finish and a nicely rounded spine and choil for comfort.

The handle is dyed and stabilized Karelian birch burl and carbon fiber bolster. Two stainless hidden bolt rivets set the scales to the full tang. This elegant knife will hold up exceptionally well to the demands of either a home or commercial kitchen.
Exceptional work throughout! This is a knife you’ll have a hard time putting down.

A 210mm chef knife is a type of kitchen knife that is about 210 millimeters long, which is approximately 8.27 inches. These knives are often used by chefs and home cooks for various kitchen tasks, including slicing, dicing, chopping, and mincing. They offer a good balance between the versatility of a longer knife and the control of a shorter one, making them a popular choice for many culinary enthusiasts.

My Name is David Hoehler, I’m a full-time knifemaker based in Sheffield Beach on the North Coast of KZN South Africa. Without a doubt, I’ve been obsessed with knives for as long as I can remember. I got my first Swiss army knife at age 6 and have had a knife in my pocket ever since. I started making knives in 2014.

My first career was as a professional Chef. I was a chef for 8 years. I have spent thousands of hours knife in hand, hence my love for them. I always found that the average production knife left much desired. This has given me so much insight into how they are used and should perform.

Now I make knives that I would use in the kitchen.

I’m a one-person operation; I do everything from start to finish completely handmade. I can offer a selection of designs that will cover any cooking task. My favourite knife is the classic 8”/210mm chef knife.

As far as chef knife makers go in South Africa I’m one of the top makers that produce at volume with a high level of fit and finish.

For customers not from South Africa, I would recommend heading to my international knife purveyor www.bladegallery.com, They handle all my international clients and have stock immediately available.

I genuinely love what I do for a living and with all the years of experience, I have gathered, I try to make the best quality knife possible.
